Buyers benefiting from after-holiday sales drop 32 percent …

(MENAFN) Based on what new data shows, on Monday the number of people benefiting from after-holiday sales fell 32% from two years ago, amid lingering concerns over coronaviruses. Additionally, retail analyst Springboard said attendance figures were better than Boxing Day.

But famous shopping spots like central London have experienced a decline triggered relatively by disruptions to rail facilities. Consumers decided to head to shopping parks on Monday, but attendance there remained down 7.2% from pre-pandemic levels.

This was opposed to a sharp drop in attendance on main streets, down 40.1% two years ago, and in shopping malls, which were down 38.8%.

According to Diane Wehrle, director of insights at Springboard Statement, “Part of the biggest attraction in retail parks is probably because shoppers are restocking their groceries after the weekend festivities.”
