The owners of Holiday Inn Express & Suites have given the Lamont Sports Park Illuminating Dreams fundraising campaign a big boost by donating $50,000.

This is the sixth diamond donation to the campaign and the ninth donation over $50,000 announced to date.

Deputy Vice Mayor and Campaign Co-Chair Mike Myatt said in a statement, “We are so fortunate to have a business like Holiday Inn establish a foothold in our community,” adding, “Their contribution to Lamont Sports Park will help in Saugeen Shores to hold large ball tournaments. Now these ball players have a place to play and another place to stay.

Larry Dunn of Summerside Hospitality, the group that owns the hotel, said, “We are thrilled to be part of Lamont Sports Park.

He says, “Thanks to the vision of Saugeen Shores Town Council, staff and many volunteers, the community will soon open a world-class sports facility. Many thanks to everyone involved, including all the other sponsors.

The Grand Slam diamond donation entitles the group to a branded Holiday Inn Express Way in the park. They will also receive recognition at the park’s opening ceremony in 2023 and a mention on the park’s lifetime giving board.

The fundraising campaign aims to raise funds for the construction of phase 2 of the Lamont Sports Park. This includes two youth baseball diamonds and an accessible playground. The new construction will be in addition to the four baseball diamonds built in Phase 1.
