Holiday Inn Expands Vic Pipeline With New Dandenong Signing

IHG Hotels and Resorts completed an already strong pipeline of Holiday Inn properties en route to Victoria, signing a new management agreement for a hotel conversion in the emerging second-tier city of Dandenong.

Holiday Inn Dandenong will be the fifth hotel partnership with the Pelligra Group and the fourth under the Holiday Inn banner, joining others at Melbourne Airport, Werribee and a developing property in Richmond. IHG also operates the Crowne Plaza Melbourne Carlton with the Pelligra Group.

After a 10 million Australian dollar renovation and refurbishment, the hotel will be converted from its current appearance as Ramada Encore by Wyndham Dandenong, with 18 additional rooms added to take the hotel’s inventory from 108 to 126 keys. The property will also feature Holiday Inn‘s energetic communal open lobby concept, which recently debuted at Werribee.

The new open lobby is currently in place at Holiday Inn Werribee and will be housed in the new property in Dandenong.

The signing comes as Dandenong continues to grow and launch as a bustling new capital in southwest Melbourne. The last 15 years have seen the significant development of new community infrastructure by the Victorian government, which in turn has attracted the attention of the business, investment and education communities, leading to new headquarters , a large university campus and surrounding residential communities.

IHG’s Development Director for Australasia and the Pacific Jael Fischer said she was delighted to be working closely with the Pelligra Group team again.

“The Holiday Inn brand has undergone a huge global transformation over the past 18 months, unveiling a next-generation level of design that catches the attention of business and leisure travelers, accelerating the brand’s growth across the region. She said.

Pelligra Group President Ross Pelligra said he enjoys working with the IHG team and is delighted to present his new acquisition under the Holiday Inn brand.

“The location of this hotel is what really attracted us to the property, right across from the city’s main shopping mall and a few yards from the large Dandenong revitalization project,” Pelligra said.

“Having the internationally recognized Holiday Inn brand attached to our hotel will be of great benefit to returning domestic and international travel and we are proud to continue our partnership with IHG. “
