PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) – The Holiday Inn Resort hosted a memorial concert Thursday night for its former vice president of marketing, who recently died of COVID-19.
On what would have been his 25th working anniversary at the resort, family, friends and guests celebrated the life of Philip Colvin with a concert.
Andy Griggs, John Berry and Tim Rushlow performed at Saturday’s concert. Employees at the resort said the performers were close to Colvin and once they learned of his death they offered to come and play for free.
Colvin’s wife Andrea said she was in awe of the outpouring of support from the community and artists.
“They contacted the hotel and wanted to come and do it as a commemorative celebration of my husband’s life,” Colvin said. “My husband has been here for 25 years – it is actually his 25th birthday month and the outpouring and love from these artists and our community is truly a blessing.”
Colvin’s wife said her last wish was for everyone to get vaccinated against the virus. She said the Holiday Inn was their home from home for the past two decades.
She added that the venue for the concert was where she and Colvin got married 22 years ago.
