IHG expands presence in Egypt with signing of Holiday Inn New Assiut Asayla – Hospitality Net

IHG® Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has signed a management agreement with Mabany Edris, a well-known property owner and developer in Egypt, to open the Holiday Inn New Assiut Asayla. The hotel was signed in a ceremony in Egypt attended by Abdel Fattah Al-Assi, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and Mohamad Anwar, Deputy Head of Urban Communities Authorities. IHG has a strong heritage in Egypt, having opened its first hotel in the 1980s, and currently operates over 2,000 rooms and has over 800 rooms in the works, across brands.

The announcement follows several high-profile signings this year, across IHG’s luxury and lifestyle, premium, essentials and suites collections, underscoring the company’s plans for gradual expansion into the MEA region. Additionally, the signing strengthens IHG’s core portfolio in the MEA region, in line with demands from key markets in the region.

When completed, Holiday Inn New Assiut Asayla will be IHG’s third Holiday Inn hotel in Egypt, following Holiday Inn Cairo Maadi and Holiday Inn Cairo – Citystars. Scheduled to open in January 2024, the 157-room property will be strategically located near the city of Assiut, along the banks of the Nile. The hotel is also close to the main cultural monuments of the city, the faculties of Assiut University and the University of the Sphinx. An ideal destination for business and leisure travelers, the Holiday Inn New Assiut Asayla offers well-equipped rooms, excellent facilities including four meeting rooms (545 m² in total), a ballroom (450 m²), as well as a spa, fitness center and swimming pool for relaxation. Additionally, there will also be multiple dining options offering a wide selection of food and beverages for guest enjoyment.
