IHG to open Holiday Inn Express at Rome Fiumicino Airport – Business Traveler

IHG Hotels and Resorts is about to open a Holiday Inn Express at Rome Fiumicino Airport.

The hotel company has signed a franchise agreement with Borealis Hotel Group to open the Holiday Inn Express Rome – Airport in 2023.

The 224-room hotel will launch the brand’s next-generation design in Italy, which offers free Wi-Fi, power showers, and a free Express Start breakfast.

The hotel will be located in the Parco Leonardo commercial and business center with a dedicated metro station, convenient access to Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport and a 20-minute train ride from the city center.

IHG Hotels and Resorts is currently expanding its Holiday Inn Express brand into airports, with properties slated to open at Ankara Airport in Turkey in 2022, and at Madrid and Seville airports in 2023.

In addition, the brand recently opened a hotel at Dublin Airport in partnership with the JMK group and a dual-brand Holiday Inn Express and Crowne Plaza property in Nice, France.

Willemijn Geels, Vice President Development Europe at IHG Hotels and Resorts, said:

“The Holiday Inn Express Rome – Airport is a great addition to IHG Hotels & Resorts’ current presence in the city. There is such a great appetite for travel and construction for Rome, with this signature alongside two other monumental signatures within our collection of Luxury & Lifestyle brands; InterContinental Rome and Six Senses Rome.

“Accessibility to the airport and surrounding areas means that the Holiday Inn Express Rome – Airport becomes the bridge between local and international guests visiting this historic city. This signing is a testament to the continued confidence our owners and partners have in IHG Hotels & Resorts and our brands. We are delighted to continue and strengthen our partnership with Borealis Hotel Group and open what will be a large hotel in a large market. “

The hotel will be developed by the Leonardo Caltagirone group.
