MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A new beachfront resort is making its way to the Grand Strand.
Holiday Inn Club Vacations announced Thursday that it has purchased 16 acres of undeveloped land to build the new resort. It will be located across from the company’s existing complex, located off South Kings Highway near Myrtle Beach International Airport.
“It’s nice to have new projects and new features from time to time, so our returning visitors have something new to try,” said Mark Kruea.
The resort is expected to open in 2024 and will feature 152 one- to four-bedroom villas ranging in size from 746 to 1,900 square feet. The villas will also include patios with ocean views – with a section set aside for luxury options.
The company also provided an outside artist’s rendering to WMBF News, stating that it is subject to change.
“We’ve seen how much families love Myrtle Beach, as our South Beach Resort has been one of the network’s most popular properties for over 10 years. Our team’s familiarity with the destination, coupled with the creative freedom to build from the ground up, means we have a great opportunity to create a truly unique resort,” said Tom Nelson, general manager of Holiday Inn Club Vacations in a statement.
All of this growth has Helen Bowden worried about the increased traffic along Springmaid Blvd.
“It says 35 mph but people are passing all the time,” Bowden said.
The location would also have other amenities, including a fitness center, an outdoor pool with hot tubs, and a beach-side activity lawn.
Construction will be completed in 2 phases, with the first to be completed by 2024.
