Public meeting planned for the conversion of the former Holiday Inn into a student residence

Comments to be collected at the December 13 meeting

The public will have the opportunity later this month to comment on plans to convert the former Holiday Inn hotel into a student residence.

If finally approved, the building at 601 Scottsdale Dr. will undergo a series of internal renovations, as well as facade and surface parking work to become a student residence with 151 rooms with 177 beds, as well as 13 apartments. .

In its request to the city, Forum Equity Partners, which leases the property from the University of Guelph, requests that the property be dezoned to allow residential uses, while retaining the existing commercial zoning.

As university property, one parking space is required for five beds in the requested zoning, but Forum is requesting permission to offer space for two bedrooms.

A public meeting on the proposal will take place during a city council planning session on December 13, which begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be webcast live at guelph.ca/live.

The deadline to register as a delegate or make a written submission is December 10 at 10 a.m.
