This holiday season will see the return of the popular “Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild” at the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Sanford.

From Nov. 19 to Jan. On Dec. 16, 2022, the surroundings of the zoo will be illuminated by 30 huge handcrafted lanterns, powered by thousands of LED lights. The Asian Lantern Festival was established in 2019, but naturally had to take a hiatus in 2020.

“We’re excited to be able to bring this popular event back to the zoo,” said Dino Ferri, CEO of the Central Florida Zoo, in a press release. “People flock to this event, and when you see these beautiful lanterns lit up, it’s easy to see why. We’re excited to once again offer a fun, festive and cultural experience for the people of Central Florida to end the year and begin 2022.

The evening event will take place outdoors, on a 3/4 mile lantern-lit stretch through the zoo. The event requires a separate ticket from regular zoo admission.

Purchasing event tickets online in advance through the Central Florida Zoo is recommended.
