Generous residents have donated items to the refugees who are temporarily housed at the Holiday Inn in Manvers, but Rotherham council said it “does not encourage people to donate physical items.”
In a statement released by the council today, a council spokesperson said: “We do not encourage people to donate physical items but, if necessary, it can be done at Wath Libraries. , Dinnington, Maltby, Mowbray Gardens and Riverside Town Center House.
“Please don’t go to the hotel to try to donate, use the libraries instead.
“Please keep in mind that the most useful things are probably good quality new or clean clothes, especially warm clothes, coats and sneakers.
“If you donate toys, the most useful are things like sticker books, pens, pencils and pencils rather than other types of toys. “
